Popular Volkswagen Golf Is Now A World Beater!

Nearly 35 years ago, the replacement for the Volkswagen Beetle was revealed. That car, called the Golf and at times the Rabbit, has proven to be one of the best selling models of all time and now carries another distinction: World Car of the Year. Yes, the 2010 Volkswagen Golf is an all new model with a proven pedigree and proof that what comes in small packages can be quite good.

We’re excited for the arrival of the sixth generation Golf, which will be in Volkswagen showrooms later this year. Simply put, we believe this is the best Golf ever.”

The Golf remains a strong favorite in the Volkswagen line-up, having sold more than 26 million units in 120 countries, making it one of the top selling vehicles of all-time. The all-new sixth generation Golf first debuted at the Paris Motor show last fall, and made its U.S. debut at this year’s New York International Auto Show. The Golf has been designed to be quieter, sportier, fuel efficient and present a clean, distinctive appearance that VW hopes owners will discover is fun-to-drive.

The all-new Golf advances VW’s product scheme aimed to intensify brand design in all classes and apply greater global coherence among model names. These steps are intended to supplement the offerings of the world’s third largest automaker as it looks to step-up sales and market share. The 2010 Golf will be obtainable in dealer showrooms across the U.S. this autumn in both gasoline and TDI versions.

59 judges from 25 countries chose the Volkswagen Golf as World Car of the Year, underscoring just how well the car has been received for more than three decades running.
