How do you remove the stereo in a 1991 Subaru Legacy?
A couple questions about the radio in the 1991 Subaru Legacy:
1. How do you remove the stereo box?
2. Are there RCA jacks or an aux jack in the back?
3. How do you set the time on this thing?!
Most Subarus have a push on panel that fits around the gearshift. If you pry that up, you will see two screws that hold the front panel on. Remove the ash tray and there are two screws under there that are upward facing (very difficult without a ratchet type 90 degree screwdriver). Once you get those, the front panel surrounding the radio can be removed with some gentle prying. There are then screws that hold the radio in place. I don’t believe there are any rca jacks or any type of aux jack in the radios of that vintage. You’re better off with an aftermarket unit that will fit the car. Go to the Crutchfield website and see what fits your car. In addition, if you buy from them, they will send you free illustrated instructions for removing the old radio and installing the new.
