Cleaning Custom Chrome Wheels

The popularity of chrome wheels is rapidly increasing with each day because of their ability to enhance the appearance of the vehicle and make it look ultra cool and stylish. You can also make your own custom chrome wheels by getting the desired changes done in a workshop. To maintain your custom chrome wheels in good condition, you need to clean them regularly.

Over time, chrome wheels can get damaged due to road salt, brake dust and many other corrosive materials that may come into its contact. If your chrome wheels too appear discolored or dull, it’s time to polish them. Regular care of these wheels will keep them looking shiny and attractive.

Before polishing the wheels, you should clean them with cold water and wash away salt, sand or brake dust. Thereafter, apply wheel cleaner as per the guidelines mentioned on the package and allow it to remain for around three minutes. Thereafter, use a soft bristled brush to scrub the rim. Ensure to rinse the chrome finish to remove the residue of the cleaner.

Use a soft, clean cloth to dry the wheels and get it rid off water stains. After this, apply a thin layer of polish evenly over the entire wheel by using a plush polishing applicator or a soft sponge. Allow the polish to dry and then buff it away with a soft, clean terrycloth towel.

Do not forget to apply wheel wax or sealant to the wheels after polishing them. This will make it easier for you to clean or polish the wheels in the near future.
